Any one willing to help a guy out??

I am looking to get my first bear in ID. Last year I hunted late in the year in unit 12 with a friend of mine who has some dogs. We chased a couple but never could get one held up. Ths year I spent a week around the Selway river the second week of april and didn't even see a bear, a track, or have a bear hit my bait. Everyone I talked to said it was just too early. Were I was, there wasn't any snow and things were greening up pretty good but the bears were just not out and about. I left my trailer up there and am planning on heading back up the 16th or 17th of May and hope for better luck. I look at this site on a regular basis and just thought I would ask for a little help. I am, of course, looking to get a big bear and am not going to shoot a little one but an average bear would be great. So, if anyone has any advise or areas that they think would be good for a guy to get a bear and would be willing to share, it would be appreciated. PM me if you are willing to help a guy out. The bears are out in 39. None today but I screwed up with a nice big chubby one on Saturday. My distance estimating skills are way off, trying to sneak in closer got me busted. I made sure I had my range finder today.

Jim, I'm a little further South then you but the bears are out and about and on the move. If you hit the greenup areas you should find bears, Welcome to Hunttalk !
