I am planning a get together with some friends for a MT bike weekend July 23-25th at the Levis mound riding area in central WI.
Come on over and ride undoubtably the best trails in the Midwest and one of the tops in the country. Here is a little video of some of the trails, pretty crappy video quality but you get the idea. Something for everyonne there from low safe trails to cliff hanging mountain goat chit! (i like it!) I took a fall on Sidewinder last weekend, got a nice bruise on my hip but it could have been a lot worst as you can see it is not a good place to fall.

tell me about it. I crashed again this weekend, didnt fair so well this time and broke a couple ribs and bruised up my chest and arm. . Damn trees don't budge even when a fat guy clobbers them. I need to settle down, I am not a spring chicken anymore and this crap hurts.:(

Be careful with that stuff Schmalts. I once came off a MTB in a race and hit a rock headfirst- broke the helmet into 7 pieces. I don't do singletrack anymore, for that very reason.

Road riding and the trainer do get old after a while but I'm trying to stay healthy this year; at least until after hunting season!

Ride safe.....

Grady, i will definitely stay off the MT bike when mid august rolls around to stay in one piece for the hunting season. This was a weird crash, I was going downhill a fast single track and as best as I can piece together i hit a little stump about 1.5" round and a few inches tall with the front wheel and it leaned me to my right side hard and my right pedal bottomed out again sending me the other direction where a big Oak awaited me. Sounds stupid, but i hit the tree in the best possible way and things could have been a lot worst off. It was one of things when you lay there not able to breath and ask yourself "what did I break". First thing that crossed my mind was my collar bone but that is OK.
I was going at it pretty hard as I want to try a race or two this summer but I have second thoughts now. If it wasn't for the crashes it is hard to beat the fun MT biking offers.
My bike is in need of some repairs, i dented the fork tube, and somehow the right crank arm wiggles on the spindle even though the bolt is tight. I think the splines may be toast. I need to call Race Face and see what they will do for warranty if it is junk

Just got my bike today and not ready for this, but it sure looks like fun. Be safe and have a good time.

Where in MN are you? you going to come over that weekend I had planned for a ride?

I live in Chaska...and no, I was not planning on it. Maybe some other time though after my butt gets used to being on a bike seat again!
