Any idea when campgrounds will reopen?

My fam and I have a couple little hole in the wall campgrounds we really like, but they're closed along with all the others. We'll still do some camping as things warm up, but still. It's annoying.

Unimproved & dispersed camping is still on. I try to stay away from campgrounds anyway. Too much generator noise & Natty Lite mating calls for me.

The campgrounds around here will not be open until the snow melts and the roads are open.

Almost comical that there are fire restrictions with smokey the bear pointing towards the lowest fire danger on the chart, campgrounds under 6 ft of snow, and yet we have fire restrictions.

But not really funny when you can't even make s'mores when you go camp.

I camped on Wednesday night up by centennial. Just a futon mattress in the back of a SUV with the seats folded down works pretty good this time of year. And it made me feel more safe from fires lol.

Wyoming is getting ready to open the state campgrounds, but only to Wyoming residents. Glendo will once again be a great place to visit during the spring with all the green plates not allowed in the state park campgrounds.

Comical?! Tell that to the Natrona County Fire District who have already been fighting wildfires in 2020.

As Ben stated, dispersed camping is open, well never closed. Some developed campgrounds run by private concessionaires may open before forest managed ones do. But no timeline for those either.

I think the timeline for May openings was announced, with the concessionaire campgrounds open first, followed by others a couple weeks after.
However, for visitors coming from other states the fourteen day quarantine is still mandated before they can freely move about to visit Montana.

Wow, talk about changing the subject.

I said it was comical that there are fire restrictions in an area around Laramie that is under snow, completely inaccessible, and the bear in front of the USFS office is pointing to the lowest fire danger. Yes, that is comical as there is zero fire danger due to snow, none, and there are fire restrictions. There are still people riding snowmobiles for goodness sakes.

And no I have no interest in telling some firefighters in another area about the snow conditions here in the USFS campgrounds around Laramie. But if you want to let them know by all means go for it.

BTW, your reaction is also quite comical. Thanks for the entertainment.

With the NF it depends upon which state, as they go by each state's covid closure directives. In New Mexico all campgrounds are currently closed until June 30 last I looked. Only dispersed (primitive) camping is allowed on the NFs here until then.

Going fishing for the first time in several years. Not sure why I took a break. My and my hunting buddy are going to fish a place he has been catching rather large rainbow and cutthroat trout. Wyoming is opening campgrounds for residents only on 15th by reservation only but I have no plans of camping just yet though I want to.
