In what is likely not a shock to anyone following along, 6 of the 11 sitting Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commissioners condemned Amendment 83: Right to Hunt and Fish. The CPW Commission sets all rules and regulations for hunting and fishing. These folks hold complete and total control over hunting and fishing in Colorado. They refused to endorse a measure to protect hunting and fishing. At least 5 of the 6 have publicly campaigned to ban hunting in the past, specifically Proposition 127: Mountain Lion hunting ban in 2024. It a strange twist, the fact that these folks control the commission is exactly why hunting and fishing needs constitutional protections. They say there is no threat to hunting and fishing but they are the threat to hunting and fishing. And none of their claims that CPW will no longer be able to manage wildlife are true. Disproven on numerous grounds from folks at HOWL and CRWM. They see Amendment 83 as a bulwark against their desires to eliminate and/or severely restrict hunting and fishing in the future. And it is. This should scare anyone who cares about wildlife, hunting and angling in Colorado.
