Antelope horn shedding

I haven't seen any around Laramie County that have shed yet. My buddy shot one on Sunday and they were well attached still. It's an interesting topic. A lot of different experiences.

For me, it's usually those first couple days of November I notice there are bucks that are shed. My buddy shot a mid 70's goat this weekend and there were several shed goats. He was looking for one he had scouted that was very big and very distinct and never saw it. He's guessing that it was shed. It does seem early this year, for whatever reason. Personally, I haven't hunted one with a gun in like 15 years, but I do get to see a ton of them in the later October/early November time frame.

Back from trolling: I’ve had it happen more than once that by Halloween I’ve watched a buck run through a cut and come out the other side with only one sheath left. But I can’t say I’ve seen one shed their sheath this early.

the new horn starts growing underneath right after the rut and pushes the old sheath off, so late oct is early but not crazy. hope you find one that hasn't gotten the memo yet

If it is earlier than normal does that mean that there is potential for more growth to be larger next year compared to typical?

not really, shed timing is more about hormones after the rut, and next year's size comes down to age, genetics and how good the feed and winter are.
