All tags are officially filled. This isn't the biggest deer ever, but I am quite happy with him. He came out of a very heavily hunted piece of public land that is less than 7 miles from our front door. Over the past ten years I've spent about twenty days hunting this drainage and this is best deer I've seen in there. The country is thick steep and hard to hunt and finding this guy took every thing I have learned about the area. He was only about 1.5 miles from the trailhead but it took a long loop around to get the wind on the little bowl I suspected the deer would be in. I didn't see any sign on the walk in and had just about given up for the day when I saw a smaller buck trailing a doe about 100 yards away in heavy cover. I moved to get a better sight line on them and then this guy came in with his head low, neck stretched out and chased the smaller buck off. At the shot the smaller buck ran within 10 feet of me.

Mt is not all it I cracked up to be. I had to fight a woof for the backstraps

yeah it was a little chilly - no worries about meat spoilage though.
