An American carol

Caught a matinee of this right wing comedy.
Lots of low brow humor, some parts made me roll my eyes and wonder if the movie was made for a ten year old, other parts had me laughing so hard I was afraid I was going to pee my pants.
Basically, a take off on the classic “A Christmas Carol” only instead of Scrooge being visited by the ghosts of Christmas, its Michel Moore being visited by the ghosts of famous patriotic American heroes George Patten, John F. Kennedy and George Washington.
I’m sure a lot of people here on Hunt talk will enjoy it as I did, and a few others will criticize it without even seeing it.
Any movie that makes me laugh that hard is worth more than the price of a ticket.

I heard some AM Talk Radio guy begging the conservatives to go see it this weekend because if the numbers were bad the theaters would pull it and it would die.

They said they didn't bother screening it for critics as they didn't want the bad reviews out there.

The theater I was in was almost full. Several times the movie got a standing ovation.
Of course I live in Fresno, Ca. The redneck capitol of the left coast.
I spent the morning up in Palo Alto; somehow I don’t think “American Carol” would be well received there.

I completely understand how the real Michael Moore lures the liberal sheep to flock to his drivel. They are easily amused and never allow idiotic prevarication to dull their gluttonous appetite for kool-aid.

Uhhhh.... actually it is with really good soundtracks. His movies have good tunes with them.

Looks like A-con was about the only person to go watch Amercian Carol....

Even Bill Maher's "Religulous" nearly did as much on only 1/3 the number of screens that American Carol wasted....

8. "Fireproof," $4.07 million.
9. "An American Carol," $3.8 million.
10. "Religulous," $3.5 million.

An American Carol" took in $2,325 in 1,639 sites;


In narrower release, Bill Maher's documentary "Religulous" opened well, placing No. 10 with $3.5 million in 502 theaters, averaging $6,972. The Lionsgate release follows Maher as he travels the world to mock one of his favorite topics, organized religion.

I assumed Guppie was making a comment regarding the mentality of the movie-attendees....and agree with him.
