I think I must be the only hunter in MT and ID that can't seem to nearly get attacked by a wolf. I have spent the last two days walking around squeekin' and squawkin' on my cow elk call until I could likely pass out and STILL can't get a wolf to come in and investigate. Yet I go to the archery shop, sporting goods store, talk and text with buddies, and now facebook, and all I hear is how grandma got attacked and shot it dead with her .44, or this guy or that guy had a whole damn pack surrounding him while elk hunting, or so and so missed a big black one at 10 paces, "came right up to him while he was cow calling", and on and on!!!

Wish I could find one of these mean ass bastages!!!

Like I said, most of the time, I am tripping over them, put a tag in my pocket and no dice. More than one wolf has had the opportunity to eat me, none wanted to even think about it.

Next time you go out, as you step out of the truck, you yell in disgust to all of creation that you have left the wolf tag back on your dresser.....wink wink. That might fix it for you!

That's always how it is.

Give me a cow tag, and all I see are bulls. When I have a bull tag, all I see are cows. I go bird hunting, and see coyotes all over the place...but when I come back with a howler and my .223, the yoties are nowhere to be seen.

Its like they know.

Your time will come Drahth. The only wolves I've seen came into bowrange while I was in my treestand waiting for an elk. Last year.

I think ya gotta go out west of town were they are getting real hungry. Everyone i have talked to has got into them out there. There were probably game animals left were you were? I talked to some loggers the other day that have been seeing them almost every day in there logging unit. I think we should take a peek there.

I had them camp out with me one night in the crazies. Just myself my horse and 5 wolves. From about 2am till 6am they came no closer then 25 yards but didn't go very far either. Needless to say I only got about 3 hours of sleep before they showed up. Glad I had the horse around to alert me to their presence, otherwise I might have been on the dinner or breakfast menu for them. Did I mention that I didn't have a tag then. i do now but haven't seen anything since.

The herd of 50 elk that was hanging in there vacated the area, so I was sure the wolves had to be close. I know they heard me. Oh , and congrats on smacking that bull notellm.

Your not the only one, I have been trying to get up close as well. I had one at my bear bait late one night that my trail camera caught, but no dice for me...

I had a near miss with a wolf attacking me while watching a hunting show taking place in Montana or Idaho! You are definately the only one!:D
