Alps Elite Pack for my Wife?

I’ve never done much with Alps, and thought they were mostly relegated to Whitetail and Turkey pursuits. But this pack looks serious, and the price seems too good to beat.

Does anyone have any insight into this new pack line? Is the 1800 too small for day hunts? Do you have a lead on other options for the same money?

I’ve never done much with Alps, and thought they were mostly relegated to Whitetail and Turkey pursuits. But this pack looks serious, and the price seems too good to beat.

I am not familiar with that specific one. It looks upgraded from a different one with the meat shelf

Also is normally a decent brand. They tend to be heavier. Also confirm the meat shelf is big enough. I considered one prior to buying my Metcalf. Issue was the shelf didn't expand large enough. Elk shoulders would fit but not hindquarters.

That is a tempting price. Just really look at the specs to make sure it would work. Also read reviews to see if there is a common thing said about them.

Also take @Rack Daniels suggestion and look for some sales. Some of the high end brands are expensive but last a long time.

Saw those, but I don’t think any of them have a meat shelf, sadly. Which is part of what determines the utility of a pack for hunting, in my mind.

I agree, it is. Didn’t realize they don’t have one!?
FWIW, I have an older alps sleeping bag that is great quality & super warm, but very bulky and heavy.

Maybe they’ve taken some notes and have products that compare to the more well known competitors by now?

I’d keep my eyes peeled for a used MR or similar but if it’s needed quickly I would say get it and report back with a review!

I have the Alps Hybrid-X pack since it came out and an older Traverse-X pack. The Hybrid carries much better. Compared to other brands, it is on the heavier side, but works well for my western hunts. I can definitely fit enough for a 3-4 day trip if needed.
