AK 2017 big game tags at 2016 prices

Just bought my 2017 license, one 2017 Black Bear tag, and two 2017 Deer tags at 2016 prices.
I knew I was going to POW this spring for black bear, but now I forced myself to hunt Kodiak next year.

The price increases go into effect on 1/1/17. The price of non-resident tags are doubling (in most cases), I believe. Just think of how much you would have saved if you bought moose, sheep and grizzly tags, too.

Just got a call from AK F&G telling me that there was an error and no 2017 tags are available. They will be refunding my purchase.

I was just going to ask you about that - I saw on another forum that someone that had purchased a tag, had the sale voided by the state. Were you able to keep the general hunting license for 2017. I'm not sure how they will resolve that, because a non-res has to have either a current year's license or next year's license to apply for permit hunts here.

They did not refund the license portion, just the locking tags. You can still buy the 2017 license at 2016 price.

Ok, just got another call today from AK F&G stating that my order has been confirmed cancelled. However, he added that if I check back in a few weeks but before Jan 1st, I can purchase the tags at 2016 prices. It wasn't a case of them not wanting to sell them, but rather they had not recieved the locking tags yet from the manufacturer.
