We have access on opening day to hunt some ag land. There are a couple of small drainages with bushes, but for the most part the deer feed in the middle of the fields. Any tips from you that have done this before? Should we just work the drainages and hope they come through, or are you using some sort of a blind? Thx Pete

I’ve killed some big bucks the first week of archery season. The three I have on my wall were all within the first 10 days. The largest is a 190” deer I killed on opening day.

if I’m traveling I’m getting there 5 days before season, glassing from the vehicle every evening and establishing a pattern. If I’m close enough to scout now, I’m already working on that pattern. I’m Setting up a blind/stand on the pattern. And I’m not hunting unless it’s perfect conditions. If the farmer allows I have my buddy or the farmer drive to the closest field edge to the stand and pick me up. I’m only hunting afternoons. And I’m not going very far into the woods.
