Afternoon snows

Buddy and I went out this afternoon. Got some snows, ducks and he managed almost a limit of darks. Most ill prepared bird hunters as both the mojo and e caller were dead lol

We are packing up today. Hunted the past 6 days. Migration is way behind in the North east. No Lesser Canadas, no divers, snows just arriving. Did fine with big Canadas, mallards and a few Pintails. Ross’s geese provided some action… always willing to decoy. Tough waterfowling weather - 70-80F, clear, no wind. Always great to visit with old friends and relatives !!!

Its just so dry. Went to bloomington to visit the kids today. Every combine in the state was out today. Corn and beans both. Will be good to have most the crops out by bow season.

Most of the cereal crops in this part of Saskatchewan are in the bins. Combines are on the canola now.

Tenant started my place yesterday. Holy crap it was nasty! Ran out real quick and got my Harley put away until he finished.

I could see the smoke from two of them from my place this afternoon. At the same time. Gotta be nerve racking picking crops. The entire countryside is like an accident waiting to happen.

I was in Northeast Saskatchewan the last couple weeks of September. Been hunting there since early 90’s. Migration seemed to be at least 2 weeks behind normal. Snows just beginning to arrive. No Lesser Canadas. No diving ducks. Enough “ local” Canadas and puddle ducks for some good mornings. Just not the huge numbers that I have enjoyed in the past. Farmers were very happy with the weather and progress on harvest !!!
