All I can say is just GO! I finally let JJHack talk me into going with his outfit in South Africa and had the time of my life. I can't say I took as good of notes as JBFLorida, but we had a great time and took some great trophies. If I get a chance, I will try to find a way to post some of the pictures.
We hunted the transvaal of Northern South Africa, near the Limpopo river for most of the hunt. We hunted several different ranches and saw so much game it was mind boggling! I wish I had more cash in my pocket, to pay for the game I didn't have on my combination hunt list. I took everything on my list except warthog- The grass was just too darn high in April to see the warthogs except very briefly. I also took an extra Impala (23") and a very nice Zebra stallion.
The sights, smells, people and the hospitality were something you have to experience for yourself to appreciate. We were treated like kings, fed by gourmet chefs, slept on good beds with the sound of wild game all around us every night.
We also hunted so hard every day, I didn't take nearly enough pictures or videos. Next time I will definitely concentrate on taking more pictures.
I was lucky enough to take a very nice Gemsbok (37 1/2") the first day (my birthday), babboon, Wildebeest, Blesbok, 2 Impala, Zebra, Duiker, Steenbok, Kudu, and a Jackal that came to a Johnny Stewart game call right at dusk one night. We also had a chance to night hunt for huge African porcupines, jackal, warthogs, and Duiker, which are primarily seen at night.
A great time was had by all, we laughed until our cheeks hurt, and experienced hunting to die for. More stories to follow. Can't wait to get back!- Sheister
