Actual waterproof boots-do they exist?

IME all-leather goretex boots remain waterproof more miles/years than nylon goretex boots. Main leak location is hinge at ball of foot, especially on nylon boots. Agree that gaiters are great for keeping socks dry from above boottops.

I've always wondered what effect treatments (Nixwax cream, Nikwak spray, Obenaufs, etc.) have on the breathability of GoreTex boots. It seems like if you completely coat the boot with a wax or cream it will create a barrier that air/moisture can't penetrate. That said, I've always had the best luck with full-grain leather GoreTex or eVent that is treated. Suede that is partial thickness always seems to let in moisture.

I am with you I feel like all the boots I have used my feet are wet bye the end of the day. It doesn’t matter what the brand is. I have found if I use boot gators it seems to help.
i have been using kenatrek the last few years and they seem to do okay in hunting season.
But in the spring looking for sheds they are always soaked after a long day hiking.
