Hunted hard this spring since I had a lot of time being furloughed from work all of April and May. Season started out perfect as the second day of season turned up a public land Tom from central Pennsylvania to my good buddy!
My sister ( who is just as hardcore of a hunter as myself) and I hunted those mountain Tom’s hard for the next 10 days straight ( excluding Sundays- illegal in PA)
And had them close almost every morning but to no avail. Headed up to some private land on the 16th and had gobblers close all morning. Caught a hen and 5 mins later a Tom in the field at 500 yards, called and called but he would not budge and eventually worked back into the timber. We relocated and as I crest the hill my sister spots a flock in the nearby field.
To my surprise one large Tom has already entered the edge of the timber, I pulled up and whacked him.
11 inch beard to the longest strand, 1 3/8 inch spurs. Just got him back a few weeks ago.
