So, my daily driver has been a leased VW Jetta for the last 3 years. It has been a great car. I have not had a single problem, it is nice to drive and I get +-38 mpg mixed and 42 mpg on the highway. Well, the lease is up at the end of the month. For several weeks I have tried various car dealers of all brands in an attempt to get a good deal. Nothing even CLOSE. As I have Doug for foul weather I came to the conclusion that if I could find the right deal it was time to go back to two wheels. I found a great deal at Fremont Motor Sports in Florence, CO and today I picked up....Karl!!! Given that it was 22F and spitting snow, he came home on a trailer but the middle of next week looks good for some miles :)

Forgot to mention the sweet lid I got to protect my brain bucket :) It was on clearance as it was branded/painted for a Honda GW (the bag shows) but the color matches pretty good and you can't turn down an Arai Signet X that fits great for $450!!!! Winner, winner.....

I do NOT have that kind of scratch :) They had an UTV in there over $30k.....I shook my head as I walked by and the salesman said "Yeah, I NEVER thought we would be selling machines for that kind of money.....but we sure do!!" Some them are even outfitted with DOT small truck tires and the town of Florence will let them drive around town for a $50 permit ;)

Always head on a swivel.....I always say that riding the bike is very safe, but the folks in armored vehicles are another issue :)

Oh I agree, motorcycles are a riot, and riding a bike among vehicles gives you a situational awareness that most car drivers will never achieve. Once we had our first kid I just didn't feel good enough about trusting the folks in cars to ride on the road though.

Took Karl out for about 15 miles of break in today....socially distant :) Would have been out a bit longer but it was chilly (47F). I am trying to an easy break period (keeping at or below +-4000rpm) for the suggested 500 miles but it won't be easy. Karl wants to rev :)

Boredom and youtube have already lead to another purchase......the joker is just TOO quiet!!! This is the pipe (ninja and z400 are the same), I got it in black stainless.

View attachment 132616Nice bike SFC! I don't ride street but enjoy hitting the trails on my Honda.
My last bike was a KLR 650 but I didn't use it off road enough for the trade off. This one is for commuting around town and the occasional trip into the hills :)

UPDATE: The pipe will arrive on Friday.....and of course the is supposed to be greasy for several days after :( boooooo!!!

Santa came!! The pipe was packaged well and exactly what I expected. The install was maybe 20 minutes taken very easily. Here are some pics and I will try to post videos if they will.

Karl has had the last couple of days off due to the bi polar weather around here but I did get a chance to thoroughly bathe him before he went into the barn. With the sun out today I thought it would be a good time for a quick video and snap. Since the last update he got a new addition .....a Nelson-Rigg Sport tail bag for toting some stuff in commuter life.
