Gorgeous rifle, I have its twin in a .257 Ackley.

@Schutzhund I've not loaded Hammers in the 9.3 but I have in several other cartridges and have been very pleased with velocity and accuracy. Steve has a post on his HammerTime forum that describes his method for working up loads with Hammers in cartridges without published Hammer-specific data. Worth a look. My experience has been that Hammers tend to like a faster burning powder relative to normal for a given cartridge and that they like to be pushed toward the top end of the velocity window for optimal accuracy.

These were purpose built rifles for coastal alaksa and wet days at home when I "don't give a hoot" so to speak. Not to be abused but I don't mind nearly as much if these get wet or dinged up.
A labor of love and they are both incredibly accurate so what's not to love?

With the exception of the bolt being on the wrong side, your build just about checks all of the boxes for my idea of the perfect hunting rifle. Great choice of scope, too.

Anyone reloading and hunting with 9.3x62? I have some 240gn power hammers I haven't loaded yet. I'm new to copper bullets. Steve from hammer was very helpful giving me loading data.

My concern lies in the slower velocity of 9.3x62 and the copper bullet impacting at 300 yards or less.

Bigger Black bear and Elk are my focus.
I'm also interested in the 242gn HHT and 250 gn E tips if anyone has loaded these in 9.3x62 and has taken game.

A friend has one that he loads with Partitions and it shoots and kills just fine on up to 2000# eland.

I suspect you could scare 2650-2700fps with the Hammers and judicious load development. That’ll be a freight train.

I'm a big fan of Partitions and Accubonds but availability has been scarce for .366 lately, I haven't loaded them yet

Lol! Thanks southpaw! They sure don't make it easy on you guys. That's definitely tougher right out of the gate for our Lefty friends. What have you found that you like for southpaw, Rem 700?

I've got the 9.3x74R, also known as the classy version.

Hammer will tell you what the velocity range is, listen to them. The 9.3's aren't long range cartridges. They are for up close and personal work. I'd prefer to limit my distance and go for mass in a projectile rather than try and turn a a jackhammer into a ferarri. I use the 250 Barnes and 286 Barnes in my #1 with good accuracy. Havent' killed anything with it yet, but it's a 200 yard gun.

As far as a left-handed bolt gun - Ruger 77 Mark II if you have a budget, tons of options when you get into custom country. Any rifle should be a controlled round feed, or a falling block single shot, or a good, strong double gun.

Yeah it's bad to shoot at all. What rifle do you have? I'll be curious as your results with the hammers. I've been tempted to buy some.

I've been tuning my 240gn hammer hunter load..this barrel likes a longer jump and also likes crimped loads with the lee FCD. Crimping cut every group I've tried in half.

I'm down to about 9/16" groups using 240 gn HH, varget, F210 primers, 1/8 turn crimp. 3.335 COAL

Fps was around 2530 before crimping. Haven't checked FPS yet with crimped loads. I'm pretty happy with this right now and I'm not trying to hotrod the rifle..it's a 250yd gun and in for me. I'll let you know where I end up with FPS. No signs of pressure yet but I don't see the need to push harder for what I'm doing.
