6.5 Man Bun game changer? 156g Berger EOL

Hoping you some great success like I had with these. Built arifle with a 20” proof barrel.
- Using
-Lapua SRP brass
-CCI 450
-47gr RL26 (USE CAUTION, not liable for sharing educational info. Use your due diligence when building your new loads)
-loaded to 2.247 CBTO / 2.939 COAL

I am achieving roughly 2880-2900 FPS. Great 5 shot grouping and one shot on a Elk cow which was DRT at 400 yards.
RL26 and CCi 450 is nearly extinct currently though

The tough part is meeting the COAL in your set up it seems. I’m loading pretty long but using MDT AICS binderless mags I can max out at 2.955” if needed.

If you really can get that kind of velocity from a CM using RL-26, then RL-26 really is magical. It must be dense to squeeze 47gr in there. It’s obviously impressive stuff. It was nearly impossible to come by even before the shortage.

my savage 6.5 cm loves the precision hunter 143 rounds,,shoots a 2" group at 300yrds,,im gonna stick with that.

Did that elk get hit with a 156 grain eol?

One thing I think a lot of folks are missing here is the factory ammo aspect. My 24” creed shoots 140 ELDM & 143 ELDX factory ammo at 2,655. The factory Berger 156’s have nearly identical velocity’s, with Berger 140’s being over 100 fps faster. So if you’re like me and shoot factory ammo, the 156’s do hold a real advantage over most 140 +/- class factory loads.

With recent lots as well? Seemed that some of the recent production berger ammo wasn't as fast as prior.
