Years ago, I shot a mule deer at 112 yards with a 180 grain Hornady XTP in a sabot out of a muzzleloader. I was using 100 grains of Pyrodex pellets. The deer was completely broadside and the bullet hit behind the shoulder (lungs). The bullet was a complete passthrough and the 30 yard blood trail from point of impact to where the deer died was massive. I have no idea what the impact velocity was and that was the only animal I shot with the 180 grain XTPs.
