Has anyone used the leverevolution ammo in .444 for elk? I shoot about 1 inch groups at 200 yards w/ a 4x scope, just not sure if this round is sturdy enough for elk.

I do. I have not taken anything with it yet. I bought my .444 as a timber gun, and it sounds like we have similar set ups. Mine doesn't shoot quite as tight, but that's probably my fault. I have no qualms about going elk hunting with it, FWIW.

That's funny because I just posted mine on the Wednesday Gun Porn thread. I haven't shot any game with it yet, but it would be plenty for elk. I've carried mine on multi-day pack-out trips. I find it to be a great carry rifle. I didn't put a scope on mine though, I don't plan to shoot anything over a hundred yards with it.

I haven't read anything on game performance with the Leverevolution ammo (weight retention, expansion, etc). Anybody know anything there?

I've carried the exact cartridge for elk quite a bit, but unfortunately haven't gotten to see how it works.

A guy I know killed a shiras with the .450 version with no problems, and I have no worries when I'm carrying it that it won't work. It's just a giant cup and core, no reason it won't work great.
