340 Wby for my Dream Hunt!!

Good choice on the .340 Wby. I have a .340 FiberMark that I bought used in 1989. It had been to Africa 3 times, and I met with the previous owner and he showed me several albums of the numerous animals he took with it in Africa. He also gifted me quite few boxes of once fired Weatherby brass. He found the 210 Nosler Partition was the best load. I too was quite satisfied with it shooting sub moa groups. I originally put a Zeiss Diavari-C 3-9 on it and started elk hunting. I have hunted elk every year with it only ate tag soup 3 times.
I have since had it rebareled with a Lilja Match Stainless barrel, and after trying several loads found the 225 Barnes TTSX to be the most accurate. It now wears a Swarovski Z5 6.5-18. Still shooting sub MOA, and still killing elk. Personally I think the .340 is the perfect elk medicine. Try the Weatherby factory 225 Barnes TTSX and see if your groups tighten up. Just clean your barrel real good to try to get the copper fouling out before shooting the Barnes (or any other mono metal).

I run a 338 Jarrett, just a little more case capacity. It's capable of 3k but shots better at2925 to 2950 with 250 gr Accubonds. I've killed at from bayonet distance to 501 yards, those bullets are flawless out of a fast 33. Worth a try.
