.308 ttsx 168 gr. 42 gr. H4895 2700fps. 3/4" group. Good enough.
Sharpie dot was point of aim for load development. The 180's were factory stuff with same point of aim.

I notice that Mustangs is using a powder that probably few have tried. Nosler data shows good numbers with Ramshot Biggame another powder not mentioned above. Their data is with a 24 inch barrel so that would need to be taken into account but would imply that 2900 with a 165 would not be out of reach in some rifles certainly with a 22 inch barrel.

Of course, there are other considerations than top speed when choosing a load.
I am currently putting together a 22 inch 308 so I am going to try some different powders and see what happens but if I end up around 2800 with an accurate load, I will be OK with that. In reality, I have a cheap chronograph so I will probably never know for sure, and it will not actually matter.

I got me some Big Game powder and tried it in my 22 inch .308 and got 2820 fps with 52.5 grains and a 165 SGK. There were no signs of pressure, but it is a compressed load to the point I couldn't get more powder in the case. I haven't shot it for accuracy but obviously 2900 fps is not possible with my rifle.

Am going to try 165 Speer Hot Core and 165 Accubond. Powders I have are RL15, imr4064,imr4350. In looking at Speer and Nosler books it seems out of a 22" barrel top speed is about 2650 fps. Is this what you guys read? Anybody else get more with other powders? Thanks

That’s pretty close to what I get with round nose 165 bullets also.
