Well looks like I’m finally going to get a chance to work up a load for the 300 wsm I picked up. Got a box of 174 grain hammers coming Friday. I’ve got some h4350,h4831,rl17, and some h1000 to try. This is one of the few cartridges I’ve never played with before. Anyone run this combo?

Never loaded that bullet or powder, but I did have great results with 180 accubonds and 100V powder. Was consistenly a bit larger than a single ragged hole.

They are super easy to find a load for! Below is four shots from a Christensen Ridgeline in 300 WSM using RL17. I settled on a final load at 3230 fps with 64 grs RL17 that put me under 1/2 MOA
great shooting n smoking along too

Here is what I have been able to do with the 178 absolute hammer and H4350. Its only a 22" barrel but I am hoping to get a little more velocity. I am loading ladders for the 166 HH and 162 AH right now

My RUM has at least 800 maybe even 1000 rounds through it. Still sub MOA. You kinda sign up for a shorter barrel life with RUM cases. mtmuley
Figured that barrel life was a little shorter.

Impressive. what barrel length?
It's the 24 inch barrel. I loaded up a velocity ladder according to what Steve suggested on the Hammer forum. Found pressure and I actually backed off 2 grains and am still getting well over 3200fps. Velocities were off a LabRadar.
I compared my velocity with the G7 B.C of the 174gr Hammer to my previous load that pushed a 180gr Accubond to 3100 fps and found that the Hammers actually match or beat the Accubonds on velocity and drop out to 950 yards, after which the higher B.C of the Accubonds start to pull away. I am slowly experimenting with switching to all copper with all my other rifles now.
