Practice at the bait distance, and understand at what yardage exactly your bullet crosses line of sight.

An old friend wounded a couple of bears because he held crosshairs where he wanted to hit....at 20 yards.

He consistently shot low and was too much of a dumb ass to listen or actually print it on paper.

Ah yes. An extra 50 percent of the bullet (1.12" vs .75") sticking out to make room for longer modern bullets, and a twist rate to accomodate them. How terrible.
