any sugestions on loads for 300 win mag ,probably in 180 grain bullet, what bullet for moose?what powder?mesurements for powder,if any body has a decent load it would be greatly appreciated, also would this bullet be overkill for deer?thanks.....big ben....

I've always had good luck with imr 4831 with the 300 win. and 180's. I dont have my loading data handy...so consult a reloading manual for exact charges.

I always loaded the 180 nosler partitions in the protected points.

There is not a bullet available for the 30's that is over-kill for deer. My best friend shoots 200 grain nolser partitions exclusively through his 300 for everything...antelope, elk, deer, etc.

Good luck.

75 grains of H4831, wmlr primers, ww brass and good 'ol 180 partitions of your flavor. I like the pointy ones myself. If your rifle doesn't shoot this load well something is wrong with your equiptment. If you want a deer/antelope load and want a little more speed try 150 partitions and 79 grains of H4831.

180 grain Speer Grand Slam

80.5 Grains of H1000

Magnum Primers

Good Elk load. Will work good for deer too (Not overkill.) Will work great on Moose as well.

Curly, but what about the 168 grain Barnes triple shock?

Well, he was asking about a 180 gr. A lot of guys don't like Barnes because of cost and the older designs had a bad reputation for being finicky to get to shoot.

But, yeah..........I would recommend the 168 grain TSX for everything from antelope to Moose. In the .300 WM the 168gr TSX has speed, flat trajectory, wind bucking ability, and killing power out to any reasonable range, and it's very accurate. I have no doubt that a 168TSX will go all the way through a Moose.

My load for the 168gr TSX is:

83.5 gr H1000
Graf Brass
CCI mag rifle primer
AVG Vel = 3,168 fps

loads for the 300 Win mag for moose. I suggest the Sierra 180 gameking and for powders just like the 300 WSM, the RL 22 and RL 19 along with H4831 and IMR 4831. If you need more details let me know.

My a-bolt Likes 180gr Nosler Partitions or Accubonds with 72.5gr IMR-4831.
26" barrel chrono'd 3100fps
