3/4 ton 4x4 recommendations

Im looking to get a new 3/4 ton pickup 4x4 for pulling a 18’ to 20’ trailer. Can you recommend what in your opinion is the most dependable and reliable truck
 
If money is not a big factor, Ford 6.7 diesel all day long.

Guessing money is a factor though. How often do you pull the trailer? The 3/4 ton gassers are capable but gas mileage is atrocious. If you don’t pull all that much you might consider a 1/2 ton. Better on gas and a cosy ride. I have an f150 with the 3.5 ecoboost and it’s quite capable when I need to pull the camper.

If it has to be a 3/4 and you pull a fair amount the ford 6.7 will serve you well. If you need all the off road bells and whistles get a tremor.
 
I've been a GM guy my whole life, but we have 3 duramax 3/4 tons (2016-2019) in the family and 2/3 have had repetitive and expensive issues with the DEF systems. If you get or have one my non-professional opinion is keep the DEF tank over half full all the time. Several problems with the DEF tank heaters have occurred when DEF fluid was lower. One of these 3 will be getting traded for a Ford diesel real soon.

Ram 1500 with 5.7Hemi will do everything you described easily. I have 2009 Ram2500 I bought new, 2nd Ram 2500 since 1997 so bern good.

Butter flavored salt my favorite on popcorn, yours?
 
I have a F -150 2.7. The issue is that i want to carry my Yamaha 450 I use it all the time when coyote hunting. With the ATV and tongue weight I exceed my gross weight. That's the reason for the 3/4 Ton.

Money isn’t an issue Im out six months a year.

Speaking from experience? You got the popcorn because questions like this quickly turn into a pissing contest about how good or bad things are. Carry on.
 
Im biased towards Ram but the new ones are full of problems being a new generation. They need to iron out the issues. Just got rid of a newer chevy for an older 4th gen ram. Chevy towed better but was expensive to fix all of its little issues. I concur that chevy needs its def kept more than half full or it has issues. Ram is better off road.

From the few fords I have driven, they were really nice, just expensive. Never towed with one. On any of the choices, you will not feel a 20' trailer with a diesel. I hardly feel my 30' trailer. Stay away from a 1500, just under powered, bed capacity and gas mileage will suffer. You could do a gas 2500 but mileage again will suffer.
 
If you want comfort I would say Ford. I have a 22 GMC Denali and I had to move my sons Ford and wow, the seats were better IMO. Make sure to go sit in and drive all of them. I'm sure they will all do what you want, but if you are in it that much, I would want something comfortable.
 
My ford 2.7 6. Would work its just when i put the Yamaha in the bed im well over my max weight. Im camping sometimes for more yhan 6 months and drive all over the Nevada out back on that ATV. Id be severely handicapped without it
 
I only have older experience with this.
My 1978 F150 windowed the block before the 3 month of age mark. And it did it again at the 6 month mark. It was fine after the 3rd engine. ( Ford charged me for the oil and filter both times btw)
The next F150 I owned was a 2009. It threw all the rod and main bearings before it hit the 50,000 km mark.
And Ford refused the warranty claim, so I had truck payments on a lawn ornament for a while.
I've never had a serious issue with any Chevy truck I've owned, so I'd say anything but Ford.

Don't buy a diesel if you don't really need one. Buy the big GM gasoline engine or one of the larger Ford engines. Sure, diesels are cool until you have emissions issues.

GM generally ride a bit better.

Other than that, I'd go for what has the best deal and minimize how many bells and whistles it has to reduce the number of failure points.
