Well it appears that Weatherby has officially released the 25 RPM today.
Multiple bullets available from factory, including Hornady, Hammer and Berger.
Available in the Mark V six lug and the 307.

Well folks if the rumors are true Weatherby will be kicking off New Cartridge Season tomorrow 🙄. There is speculation as to what it is but the interwebs are suggesting possibly a 257 RPM. Stay tuned.

I’ll come out in support of this one. I wish they’d have used the full length RPM case for selfish reasons, but this move makes sense.
They’ve throttled back their loadings considerably, though. From my fast twist 25-06, I get some blistering speeds, and it has 7gr less capacity than the RPM. The handloader will certainly see the benefits of this one - it’s like a 25-06 AI that you don’t have to fireform.

For example, with the same 107, I hit 3600 before I backed off to where it sits at 3467fps. That’s simply just picking the right powder for the bullet. It being essentially just a fancy Absolute Hammer, it requires faster powder for full pressure.

With the new 112 CX, which I know isn’t in their lineup, I’m getting well over 3200. Again, powder.
However, that’s comparing factory loads to handloads, which isn’t always fair. This whoops 25-06 from a factory standpoint.

I will be building one or rechambering my 25-06 to one.

Thanks. Interesting I guess. Sounds like a toy for people that want to tinker with something. I like shooting 120's out of my 257 and have had lots of success on deer and antelope with it over the years.
Probably not going to show up on my wish list anytime soon.

257 weatherby has a case length of 2.549”. 25rpm is 2.4”. Weatherby vanguard action allows like 3.6” OAL. I’m not seeing the advantage of the shorter OAL

Agreed they should have left the case full length. Their vanguard action magazine is like 3.6” so not like they would have ran out of room. Only thing maybe so a 6.5 rpm didn’t get stuffed in one?

They should've necked the 7PRC down to 257 but I get why they wanted to use a proprietary cartridge as their base rather than a Hornady one.

Yep or taken the 6.5 prc case and necked it down. Other companies would probably produce rifles and ammunition for it. Does anyone besides weatherby chambered the RPM cartridges and supply factory ammo? Not that weatherby cares if other companies support their cartridge
