I dont think it is going to really matter to Haines, but I think Tom and Terry should be pissed. Kennedy has the best chance of being a finalist if Haines is the 1 seed.

As the 8 seed at 184 Ferrari would face Welsh in the second round. Cael should be pissed about that too.

Conference tournaments, NCAA qualifiers going on.

No big surprises yesterday at the Big 12. D Lockett had a 72 minute match including injury time, concussion protocol, and a tornado warning.

First round of big tens going on. Lots of talk about the seeding so far but no surprises so far. At 197 Iowa’s Arnold lost on time expiring takedown. He relaxed with about 4 seconds to go tied at 1-1 to go into overtime, but the Maryland kid took him down.

Round 1 complete. Where was all this offense Iowa showed in round one the rest of the year? Multiple take down in 1st period!
Arnold did what he’s done all year. He gets too defensive late instead of trying to put it away. I don’t know what to think about Ferraris match…..I’d sure like to see a bunch more offense out of him wrestling a kid of that caliber.

I agree. Unfortunate Block was completely gassed. All I can say is it ought to give Ryder a lot of confidence going into Nationals.

He’s gotta finish one of those takedowns. The long absence for injury was a huge burden for his conditioning.

2 thoughts this morning:

If the NCAA wants to allow wrestling on the edge of the mat, that’s great, but the edge of mat out of bounds needs to be big enough to allow that. If it’s a takedown with 1 toe in bounds The wrestler trying to score a takedown needs to be able to use that entire space without the other wrestler going onto the gym floor.

Second thought. A wrestler should have to make weight on the second day of the qualifying tournament even if they are already automatically qualified and planning to medically forfeit verse having to make weight and wrestle a match that is “meaningless” for 7th or 8th place.

Third thought for the day listening to Kennedy vs montanoya at 174:

There needs to be a penalty if a coach challenges a call in the last 30 seconds or in overtime and the referees original call gets confirmed. 10 second runoff, choice for other wrestler, or something else.

I just glanced at the brackets as they were released around 7 pm. I’m kind of surprised Forrest is the #1 seed, but I can understand it as well.
