2026 Garden

Pulled my watermelon a few days ago. Cantaloupe is close to being all pulled up. Have quite a few on the plant but don't think they'll get to ripen. Cold temps coming by weekend.
Everything else is in greenhouses and I pulled all the Amish Paste tomatoes and some of the peppers couple days back. When fall decided to come in it came with a rush. Seen a skiff of snow on the peaks twice now. It sure seemed like the summer rushed by fast. Of course all my wildflowers finally decided to come up and bloom. Took them all summer to mature.

Frost last night finished it off. Was a good year lots of beets and carrots in the ground still. Picked many many beans this summer way less of them next year. Lots of tomatoes but not real big. Picked them all today and they are inside ripening now

I've been waiting for the first frost to get the cantaloupe. So far nothing. Picked two cantaloupe last night have one more that is getting close to being ripe. The crazy gherkins keep producing so much we can't eat all the cucumbers. Other half said he's finally getting tired of them and I only have 3 plants. Pulled all the acorn squash and finally ate one last night. It wasn't bad not great but it's been years since we have eaten any of them.
My tomatoes aren't wanting to turn red. There is some huge ones too. May have to pick them and let them turn red. Found when you do that they just don't quite taste the same as vine ripened and they tend to rot faster. The end is near and close for this season.

All that's really left for me right now are sweet potatoes. I have a lingering tomato that I hope survives to the fall. Itll explode with a fall crop if it does.

My plan before fall/winter planting is to revamp the raised bed. Dig it out reset the frame, clean up around it, then refill it with fresh compost. Probably over due for a reset like this.

Would you mind sharing a recipe? Looks great
This is the one I use. I only use half the red pepper flake that it calls for. And I adjust once it's cooked down for final taste. I substitute the lemon juice with citric acid on everything I can. I can't notice the citric acid. I also don't add the brown sugar until the sauce is as thick as I want so it doesn't burn.

I really appreciate it. We are trying to find alternate recipes for excess tomatoes

Welp, frost got the cantaloupe this morning. Picked everything off the vines pulled all the plants. Pulled up all the pepper plants and picked what peppers were on the plants. Down to lettuce in the Amish house, tomatoes in CobbleStoneHenge house and cucumbers in TowMayToe house. Carrots still in the ground outside. That sure went fast.

Where you get that watering system from? Is it a kit or something you built? I'm pulling mine this winter and starting over for sure
3/4 black poly tubing with 1/2 drip emitter tubing. I think I ordered most of it from dripworks. Im not sold on the drip tubing though, especially for my climate. Currently I have the perimeter of each bed lined with the drip tubing but I think I at least need a line down the center as well. I run a timer by the spigot and I have a hose connection on each end of the manifold. I also have valves at each bed so I can turn off the beds that either dont have anything planted or just dont need as much water. The pipefitter in me wanted to build a whole stainless manifold, maybe one day when I hit it big.
