2026 Garden

Well now I'm in the camp of yall cold weather people I guess. Garden beds covered in snow/ice since Saturday and another wave coming this weekend. Barely above freezing most days. Just when I was getting excited about getting peas and potatoes in.

Going to start a garden this year. Put some extra topsoil and grass mulch on a 36' x 48' area last year. Will need to fence it this spring to keep the deer out. Snow peas, lettuce, carrots, parsnips, tomatoes, chard, squash, and maybe corn for first yea
You should consider a winter cover crop to help break down all those amendments That have been added.

The slow release calcium line was a joke. I just don't have a place to put all the junk after moving. I need sell some antlers this spring! Also too busy this fall to plant a cover crop. I would of had to water it as well, since this area gets very little precipitation, and then the weeds would have been my cover crop.

We’re completely redoing our garden this year, pulled all the raised beds out last fall and tilled the soil into the compost bed. We will redo the raised beds, and add a few more. We are also adding a 10x12 greenhouse. Tomatoes, peppers, onions, carrots, radishes and green beans. Potatoes will go in next month and we might add cucumbers this year too. We have a fair sized asparagus bed and should get our first harvest this year.

Several different varieties of lettuce going with succession planting as well, lacinato Kale is starting to mature, Savoy cabbage got bit a little by a short freeze, brussel sprouts I just thinned out today for some more elbow room, a row of carrots, and finally some brocolli.

Running out of time before spring and summer plants need to stsrt goo not want to see a pic of my garden rithing in the ground. I just need more room is all.
Nice JShane!
You do not want to see a pic on my garden right now...frozen mud!

Since a lot of us on here live in northern climates with winter, curious if anyone grows indoors?

If so what. Even if it’s just herbs or salad mix, etc. I’ve been thinking of trying so it’d be nice to hear if folks have success doing it.
Indoor grow tents are an option and you can buy them in package deals or piecemeal a setup if you already have lights, fans, frames. People grow vegetables with high and low water consumption.
Also cellulose-fed mushrooms cultivate real well indoors. Hen of the woods, oyster. You can get the spawn online and toss it in five gallon buckets, maintain temp and humidity in the grow tents, bam! 10lbs of mushroom.
