2026 college football 🏈 thread , cuz @jimh406 said so …………

Is it just me, or is the pace of play in the nfl seem slower every year. Feels like a stoppage and commercial after every 3 plays…
We were talking about that last night.
Our son even came down from his room at halftime complaining about all the commercials.
It almost felt like we were watching more commercials than football.
It seems as though, at every stop, there’s a commercial.
Getting very tough to watch

I streamed the game on Peacock last night and in lieu of commercials the breaks were just aerial drone shots of stadiums NBC has visited during Sunday Night Football and yea it felt like I would watch 3-4 plays and then 3-5 minutes of stadium shots.
Maybe it's just the first game that they sold some more primetime commercial spots for or something. It was tough to keep it on. I went to bed before the game ended.

According to Gemini:

An average NFL broadcast lasts over 3 hours, but contains only about 11 minutes of actual live play. [1]

Why Games Take So Long
    • The Clock vs. Action: A regulation game has 60 minutes on the game clock, but the clock stops often for incomplete passes, out-of-bounds plays, and penalties. [1, 2]
    • Loitering Time: Players, coaches, and referees spend roughly 75 minutes per game standing around, huddling, and getting set between plays. [1]
    • Replays: Networks spend about 17 minutes showing slow-motion replays and analysis. [1]

The Commercial Breakdown
    • Ad Volume: Broadcasters air around 100 commercials across roughly 18 to 20 commercial breaks during a standard game.
    • Time Spent on Ads: Commercials take up about 1 hour of the total broadcast.

NFL … wrong thread.:D
Back on topic....

I'm pretty excited to head back to Brookings to see my Jackrabbits play on Saturday evening for the first time in many moons. First college football game for the boys (6 and 3). They're excited.

Should be a beautiful evening in Eastern SD. Gametime temps around 70 and clear skies. Even talked the grandparents into coming to help entertain the kids so ma and I can delete some beers and eat some grub at the tailgate.

Run Rabbits! 🐰
