Good lesson! ...gonna be hard to forget the pear analogy in the field after seeing that.It’s rump is way bigger than it’s dainty chest, tapered legs, Shaped like a Pear (previous pic).

Grizzly bear mistakenly shot and killed by a hunter in Bonner County in North Idaho
On the evening of May 9, a hunter shot and killed a young female grizzly bear he mistook for a black bear. The bear was killed in the Priest Lake drainage of Idaho’s Panhandleidfg.idaho.gov
We usually have one every few years, my favorite is our large carnivore biologist shot one by mistake while bear hunting maybe 12 years ago, can't make that up!Of course it’s f@cking Priest Lake.

The one that happened last year that was the reasoning behind the ID testing now was pretty funny actually. The guy called F&G looking for guidance because he couldn’t tell 100% black bear vs grizz.
