Iowa State now has 42 football players in the portal, and with graduations are down to 16 scholarship student athletes. One returning starter. NIL disaster.

My Instagram feed is full of coaches talking about various alterations to the current “system”. Caliperi is decrying the transfer every year athlete that is chasing NIL and will in no way graduate being at four schools in four years. And therefore will not have the alumni connections that have helped so many players who won’t make the pro levels.

Coaches are barely recruiting incoming freshmen, as the transfer students are better at making major impacts, and very often a freshman heads for greener pastures after their first year or two.

Daaaang! My brother was on Roger's staff at WSU, doesn't sound like much fun for him getting a start at iowa state! The coaching carousel doesn't make for much stability for all the staff on these teams. Kind of a wild industry.

Couldn't agree more. Rivalries aren't rivalries anymore because you have a school that is geographically located across the country but is in a conference that is located in a different time zone. Don't get to start since you were at a school with players that are better, I'll just leave and go somewhere where I can make more money since I'll play. No work hard ethic to get better, just me and me some more. This could be a society thing to, as far as that goes.

I think college football will be fine. Sure, they are going to have to tweak some rules a bit to get it working better. For instance, the transfer portal opening during the playoffs is strange for both the playoffs and also when school starts. Creating more parity is good.

The old way had players in all conferences being paid under the table, and players on some teams had to sit for years before they got to play.

Receivers aren't helping Pavia, and the punter move was crazy. Iowa didn't need any help from something stupid. They seemed to be doing fine on their own.
