Our group of 15-20 friends and family get together each year in northeast Iowa. We eat a lot of good food. We drink a lot of cheap beer and we usually kill a nice deer. This year we’ve killed 3 world class bucks and several more nice ones. We hunt a mix of public and private.

If you saw my response to this thread https://www.hunttalk.com/threads/ya...ny-lets-see-the-pictures.303382/#post-3108523 you may be wondering if I got the pear tree destroying yard buck. And I did! He stopped visiting my yard on Tuesday or Wednesday before the opener of the season so I wasn’t able to get him opening morning. On Monday I was on a stand called “the dug road” and it’s one of the better stands we have. My yard buck was traveling with a spike, a small 8 and a bigger buck. I knew right away when I seen the bucks that the third one was my yard buck and waited to get a shot. It took a minute or two as they milled about on a hillside and he was about to leave but offered a quartering away shot at 75 yards. We can only use shotguns and it was in heavy timber so I try to keep my shots at less then 100 yards. All it took was 1 shot and he was down. I’m going to finish skinning his head out and boil the skull this weekend for a euro mount. 1607657483065.jpeg
