The 2015 whitetail season was a tough one. I only had a few days to hunt and I couldn't find any good whitetails. I hunt whitetails in mulie looking country. The two are in the same areas so it is lots of glassing then spot and stock. Anyways around 11:00 on my third day I seen a small basket buck running does and could see something in the bush shining. I couldn't tell what it was so I made a sneak and a one man deer drive. The first time I walked into the cover on the upwind side and then after that walk I circled back on the downwind side. This buck was hidden in the buck brush and he allowed me to go by but as I was circling back I caught him getting out of his bed. When he first got up he faced quartering away but I was wasn't able to get the scross hairs settled before he figured out something was up. He took off on a run. He was steeply quartering away but I felt confident so I swung through his neck and shot. The 300 mag didn't let me down cause when I came out of recoil I seen him flipping over!
