WOW...we are barely into December, and this has been the most epic season of my life!

I decided to do some NEW things this year. First, I picked up a bow this summer and began to practice in the back yard after work. (very therapeutic). Second, I decided to do a western big game hunt SOLO.

Here's my 2nd rifle trip to the San Juans. Solo camping and hunted for 7 days.
Rained or snowed every day at 10,500 ft. and I stayed dry and warm for the most part.

Finally connected on the last day.

On the drive home, I got an invite to join my brother on a daddy daughter hunt for youth weekend at his lease near Coleman, TX. Rachel got her second deer (doe).

An added bonus was that I got to turkey hunt with my bow. First bow kill.

Yesterday, Mom was in town, and has never hunted a day in her life. She asked my brothers and me to take her out to see what it was all about. We went to a buddy's place and set up on the back side of a water tank with good wind and good views hoping to see a hog or coyote...and THIS happened! (I was the only one of the 4 of us with a deer tag).

Yesterday was the first time the 4 of us have spent together without our wives or kids since my dad died in 2008. He is the reason we got into hunting, and I know he was there in some way with us.

Great pictures and a great story. Nice to see the young ones enjoying the outdoors. The smile say's it all.
