12 years old and first hound hunt.

Now the hard part. Getting it back out of the blowdown swamp. I took the first leg, the houndsman’s son took the second leg, another houndsman showed up and took a bit further, then Mason finished it out. We were all glad it wasn’t a 400lbs bear by the end. But I swear that sled weight was over a 1000lbs if you asked any of over 40 who had to pull it. IMG_0497.jpegIMG_0496.jpegIMG_0500.jpeg

Thats awesome. Congrats. He will remember that forever. Are you getting it mounted or a rug tanned?
We don’t know, think we may just do a euro. The guide shot it afterwards in the jaw / neck and paw. It left a big mess. Not even sure we will be able to do a euro. The hide is a taxidermy practice hide now.

Kinda upset about it, it was a dead bear standing. But, I understand he is trying to protect his dogs.

Stopped to get the bear sealed at a taxidermy shop. We needed to get the hide frozen and he fell in love with this pose. Just wanted that left paw closed to be more natural.

Now he has a lot of lawns to mow but will have a nice bear mount.

Being 12 and having your own bear mount would be pretty cool. Not gonna lie.
