Not everyone snipes them from a box blind overlooking a feeder in Texas. Check out the story of this one on the Tactical hog hunting thread... You'll see how this deer fits together w/ hog hunting...

Nice buck! I didn't think there was any public in TX

TP&W has a $48 permit to hunt upwards of a million public acres in various places. The places I like to hunt are 16K and 23 K acres broken up into various parcels in the same general area. Plus there is considerable NFS land, mostly in E.TX.
But there are quality hunts available. They're just not easy. Of course, anyone can get lucky, but you have to scout the country and put yourself in the right place at the right time to be consistent. But that's what makes it a challenge.
Personally, I don't see the challenge in sniping game from a blind while watching a feeder. I stand hunt, but I move around until I find a good spot to watch. If it doesn't pan out, I move to another likely spot... very carefully and w/ plenty of orange...
