    2024 Turkey Season!

Not much of a turkey hunter, but got lucky with a buddy and we both filled our tags on public land opening day.

There is a new "show" in town (Denver)

Did anyone attend the show yesterday? I bought a ticket for today, but if the consensus is it's a waste of time, maybe I'll save the gas.

Call your Senators! CPW Commission Confirmation Vote - Delayed Again! Now Tues, 12 Mar!

Considering she sponsored the bobcat and mountain lion hunting ban last year, I wouldn't consider her a friend to sports persons.

Call your Senators! CPW Commission Confirmation Vote - Delayed Again! Now Tues, 12 Mar!

This is what everyone needs to do. My hunting group is always begging me to help them with the draw. I told them they're on their own this year unless they have proof of sending an email. Now with the delay, I'll be meeting with a chunk of them and forcing them each to send phone calls.

    Good side of AI

I think letting ai do more thinking is an improvement. People cannot compete with the "thinking" of ai. I'm it will have its problems, but its either jump on the bandwagon and learn how to work with it or get left in the dust. Personally I'm excited by the prospect of not needing to be a rocket...

    Good side of AI

As a college student, I use ChatGPT every day. It can create five different reports with the same data when given the right prompts. It also is capable of writing perfect programming code. One of the things I like most about it is that it can chat like a person. If I have a question that's too...

Colorado Lion and Bobcat Ballot Initiative Update

Glad to see some names leading the fight. I was beginning to think Colorado hunters were pretending it didn't exist until its too late.

    Sad

Just this morning I jumped into what I thought was a knee deep pond to retrieve a duck. Ended up belly button deep in mud that didn't want to let go. Makes you think it doesn't take much to go wrong

Did you shoot your first deer with open sights?

My first was with a scope although it probably should have been with iron sights... hell, I could have simply whacked it in the head with a baseball bat as it stood there at 5 yards..

I agree, although a buddy already broke my heart saying it looks bigger than it actually is based on the inability to see the ears, and the head angled down towards the camera.

    2023/2024 Trapping Thread

After half a day of paddling around a day I managed two muskrats to start my "trapping" season. not exactly easy with Colorado laws. That said, if anyone has tips trapping muskrats in live cage traps, let me know!

    NW Colorado Deer Numbers

I hunted opening weekend in the northwest units, where we'd normally see hundreds of does, dozens of young bucks, and a few shooters, we only saw a couple dozen does, 5 or 6 forkies, and nothing worth shooting. I did manage to shoot a young 3x4 after trying new areas. Tags neeed to be cut down...

Archery Hunting: middle of the day

I've heard the same thing and it's probably true. I've herd bugling in OTC units before, but its always been right at the end of shooting light, too late to do anything about it. Good luck, hopefully you find some action.
