    Sling Shot Grouse?

Could us a Crossman 2240 22 cal CO2 pistol, pump up P1377BR 22 cal pistol or the 177 cal RWS Diana 5G Magnum P5 pistol. Would need head shots though. Many years ago, I saw an article in a hunting magazine of a hunter using and recommending a slingshot to harvest grouse during hunting season so...

    Time For A New Mattress

Sleep Number - King Size with separate head and foot adjustment. Been 4 years and no issues. Wife and I both have acid reflux so we have to sleep with our head raised but very different sleep firmness. Don't use the foot raise much except one time when I had swelling in foot from injury. One...

Stuff you don't like for no good reason

Stinkin Brady, Saints, Bucs and my Stinkin Falcons (that Superbowl loss still hurts and stinkin Ryan for taking that sack knocking us out of field goal range). Stinkin loudmouth dumb women and men athletes that don't respect the National anthem. Clueless pro men and women players who somehow...

    Call me crazy but..8mm Mauser

I made a mistake in the last post. The 180 gr ET I was referencing was a Nosler cartridge not a Norma. Several sites have it in stock. It is the one that the muzzle energy seemed low. I cannot find the Norma ammunition in the states with the mono bullet.

    Call me crazy but..8mm Mauser

Maybe made a mistake, but I looked at the muzzle energy of a 8 mm Norma Factory Loading 180 grain ET and it was slightly below a 308 factory load. Bummer to pay so much for cartridge to have it loaded below its potential. Would still do the job but not happy and will probably skip. I agree with...

    Call me crazy but..8mm Mauser

I am going on an elk hunt in 2023. Bought a Sauer 100 Classic XT in 8 mm Mauser. Ammo availability is a problem. Wish I got a 308 sometimes. Anyway, paid a handloader ($$$) for Sierra Prohunter 175 grain at 2700 fps but hoping S&B will come up with some cheaper elk loads in 2022. The S&B 196...

    Talley One Piece Aluminum Rings/Bases

I have a set of base and rings on my Sauer 100XT. I think they are a good value for the money.

    Scope suggestion?

I bought a Burris Signature 2x10x40 scope. I like this magnification range better than the 3x9. Think it is a good value with good quality construction, small size, and good glass. It was the cheapest 2x10 I could find for a big name quality scope. Not USA made though. I like the Ballistic...

How many of you hunt with a muzzle brake?

Note instead of "banned", substitute "restricted". I think that would be the first action of the State if they get a lot of complaints.

How many of you hunt with a muzzle brake?

There is option F. Get the muzzlebreaks banned at public ranges and that could very well happen in this over the top regulatory society we live in. Won't take many complaints to DNR to do this. State public ranges belongs to me just as much as the other guy. Honestly, the lump it or leave it...

How many of you hunt with a muzzle brake?

I do not shoot or hunt with a muzzle break. None of my hunting buddies use one either. My hunting guide for my future elk hunt does not allow them so I left it off the new rifle I bought. A person next to me with a muzzle break at the public range sucks the joy out of shooting for that day...

    New rifle for deer

One thing I can say about the Sauer Classic 100. Seems to be not as popular so am finding more calibers in stock. https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/9762/sauer+s1s243+100+classic+xt+bolt+243+win+22+5%2b1+synthetic+black+stock+black

    .243 for my son

Sounding like a broken record but I would toss the Sauer 100 Classic XT if you consider the Tikka T3x. I was impressed with the discussion I had with the Sauer factory about the rifle (says it is a Blaser quality barrel and superior bedding that won't be improved with fiberglass bedding) and so...

    300 win mag rifles

Toss Sauer 100 XT in 300 winmag for consideration. It comes with 5 shot 100 yd 1 MOA 10 year guarantee and a host a features that compares well in price and function with the Tikkas. I have one in 8x57 and am impressed with price, features and accuracy. It is a light rifle (6.9 lbs) so 300...

Ranking 10 Common Bolt Action Hunting Rifles Under $750

I guess I am giving the 3rd recommendation for the Sauer Classic 100 XT. I got mine about 1 month ago for $690. Price has gone up in the $700s now. Good reviews, good safety, bedding, stock and barrel, lots of calibers and 1 MOA 10 year guarantee. I think all the reviews I read got 1 MOA with...

    .44 mag ammo for deer

My brother has a Rossi 44 magnum and I have a Ruger 77/44. Both have killed deer say 50-75 yards with Hornady XTP 300 with complete pass thru. They both dropped immediately when shot. That load prints near 1.25 MOA at 100 yards in my Ruger 77/44. Cannot find if for sale anymore except...
