How did this hunt turn out for you? I drew the tag as well, but wasn’t able to go due to work obligations. I hunted mule deer a week after near that area and saw loads of elk, hardly any deer -

Gut shot... in the chest?
Had an interesting situation on a deer this weekend, thought I’d share for some feedback I shot a nice blacktail buck yesterday at about 45 yards while he was in his bed. Shot placement was directly behind the front shoulder, slight quartering with an exit on the far side at the fifth rib...- deertacos

That's kind of what we were thinking... maybe try for a Region A general leftover deer tag and a leftover cow elk tag. Any experience hunting Unit 7 for cow elk late season? I know that area has issues with hunting pressure and limited access, but maybe by mid-late November it wouldnt be as bad... -
