    E Caller for backcountry hunts

No ecalls for bear or lion allowed in Montana. But to answer your question, the Foxpro Scorpion is very compact. I have had one for years, great unit. With a TV remote for scale.

    Back the Blue...robotic dog?

Of course the other side of this coin is in a situation like they had in Austin Texas a few years ago where multiple police officers were killed. The chief authorized the remote control bomb robot to enter the room where the heavily armed suspect was barricaded. When he refused to surrender they...

    Where to hunt wolves.

If they were all actually taken by hunting (not in combination with trapping.), I would certainly love to know the details of how he does it. Just a guess, but something tells me It probably involves private property and setting up on dead livestock.

    Where to hunt wolves.

Very few people spend a lot of time chasing them simply because it's such an incredibly low success rate. I personally could care less about shooting a deer but I will easily spend 100 days a year chasing predators. Here is one I took in 2014 with my longbow. That was HARD!

    Favorite animal to hunt?

Elephants, on foot, up close, in the bush. In all seriousness, I would forgo all other hunting if I could do that for two weeks a year until my death! Not even close, but second place is calling wolves in heavy timber! Not interested in ever shooting another deer/elk.

Bullet selection for close range black bear

For big bears up close, don't screw around with a conventional cartridge. If things go wrong, you could be eaten alive, or worse! I personally like a 525gr slug at about 2300fps, preferably from a .505 Gibbs or bigger. Exhibit #1...…. https://www.hunttalk.com/threads/big-bore-boar.275792/...

Ideal Wolf Hunting Dates for a Winter Trip?

My absolute favorite time to hunt wolves in areas with heavy timber is from opening day on September 15th till the first day of the general season which is sometime around the second or third week of October. Nobody in the woods and the wolves are fairly relaxed. Most importantly you can move...

    Black Wolf Down

I had read about the black fur gene several years ago. I would love to see what those 10,000 year old "dogs" looked and acted like. Something tells me they were a handful! :) PS One year anniversary of this one today!

What to do with a wolf?

My wolf rug is one of my prize possessions. I also always get a little chuckle when guys comment that it is bigger than some of their bear rugs. Normally though I just have the hide tanned and hang them by their nose on a nail. I'm working my way down the hallway!

SPOT device vote of No Confidence

I have been using a Zoleo in the heavy timber and deep valleys of NW Montana for about a year now. It works extremely well. Very satisfied!
