I was just looking at OnXMaps and notice a bit of public land at the TX/NM border along the Pecos River. Anyone know if there's much in the way of wild hogs down there?
I'm looking at doing a week long DIY trip into the Cabinet mountains for spring bear. I'm an experienced backcountry/backpack hunter, but I am a total novice when it comes to bear hunting. I have been reading quite a bit about generically what types of areas to look for. It looks on paper...
I'm really wanting to do a spring bear hunt next year with my son. I've never hunted bears before, but have done alot of backcountry deer, elk, and summer fishing trips. We spend alot of time in the mountains here in Colorado. Next year, instead of a week in Nebraska chasing turkeys, I'd like...
FYI, I just picked up a pair of Prana Zions from CampSaver.com for $55 I took a look at these a couple weeks ago, after hearing about them on a Gritty Bowmen episode. I checked them out at the local REI, and really liked the 4 way stretch and the way they fit. I think regular priced, they...
What is the best resource to determine road status on public lands? I was hoping to find some places that they may have closed off some roads. My thinking is this might limit the human traffic in a particular area. Is there any GIS data out there, ie. google earth overlay or something similar?
Hi,
I'm looking to add a mulie hunt this year to my schedule, one that I can take my little boy on thats not too demanding but still offers a good experience. I've read that Region A has some good deer densities, and there seems to be an abundance of public land.
Does anyone have any...
Just got back from a week of turkey hunting in Nebraska. We got to try out the Turbo Tent 10 that I recently purchased. I am thoroughly impressed with the overall quality of this tent. The fabric is thick ripstop, and appears to be stitched well. the tent body has a silver thermal coating...
My little boy and I went out to Nebraska for four days of hunting. Nebraska has some great opportunities for youth. They open shotgun for youth only a week prior to the general shotgun season, and non-resident youth tag was only $7 !
We headed out to one of my favorite public land haunts...
Was at Walmart today and saw they have a rotomolded cooler from their in-house brand, Ozark Trail. Normally, there stuff is pretty much junk, but the cooler did not look that bad. They had a 73qt. for$194 Thats still a lot of money for an insulated plastic box! I have a 35q and 45q Yeti that...
Hello,
I'm new to the site. I found it by way of Randy Newberg's podcasts. I've lived in Colorado for 10 years now, and have been an avid bowhunter most of my adult life. I'm 41, with 2 kids. I love tradtional and primitive archery, fly fishing, and spending as much time in the out-of-doors...
