Yea, pretty much everybody up here is out playing in the snow, walking, riding, sledding, etc...
I always carry a side arm while out but in all honesty folks with dogs would probably be better off carrying cable cutters. I've read about 1 almost wolf vs dog incident and 6 or 7 dog vs traps...
Personally I'm a bit more concerned about the moose rather than the wolves but toting a .22 Hornet as a weapon for personal protection in the woods... Sounds legit.

I spent several hours looking today and came up empty. I did see a bull moose with his antlers still firmly attached to his head. Followed a moose trail after finding a few drops of blood in the snow... nada.
The Utah thread was a real eye opener for me. As a proponent of smaller government I was under the opinion that land transfers would be a good thing. I was wrong. After reading what Randy and others posted and doing a little bit of research I've come 180° in my thinking. Thanks for the education.
This for me. I keep the cooler in the shop with he stove burning if need be to keep everything draining. I just add a few bags or ice to the cooler.

I've been stopped by the Border Patrol and stopped and hassled by ICE quite a few times.
Seen long lines of illegals in the San Diego back country. (not my photo but you get the point):

Shame.
Access issues could be remedied via legislation or state constitutional amendment: Utah Sportsmen's Access Act or the like. I mean public land is public land regardless of who is administering it. Or am I just whistling in the wind?
I mean right over here in this thread: http://onyourownadventures.com/hunttalk/showthread.php?t=261975
5-7 years to draw up some leases? Meanwhile the bighorn herd is threatened with a pneumonia induced die off...
The states could be a little more nimble handling these issues than the fat...
