    Any ice yet?

People have been walking on the ice in ND for a few days now. 4 wheelers on some of the smaller lakes.

The issue in ND is that its 93% private land. It's a fine line for the game and fish and legislature to have opportunity for non- land owners to draw tags, while not pissing off land owners and reducing gratis tags. even though the animals don't belong to the land owners, they're mostly on...

How they still have leftover doe tags anywhere is beyond me. There's a unit by me that has terrible deer numbers (like most of the state), but had a few hundred leftover doe tags available.

150 acres. 640 would be better, but I don't ever see that getting passed through the legislature.

The solution is more habitat, but good luck with that.

interesting shot from a "hunting celebrity"

I'm sure it's all straight from the heart... I think the moral of the story is when in doubt, fling an arrow. You just might clip the neck

interesting shot from a "hunting celebrity"

Hopefully the link works. if not youtube "Archery Mule Deer- Giant 212 Alberta Buck" Skip to about the 7 minute mark. When the deer stopped, I thought "there's definitely no shot." guess i was wrong....

    Deer Hunters - Opinion

From what I've seen and heard this year, i would say deer numbers are down around 50% where I live ( North Central part of the state). That might be a conservative estimate. It might be closer to around 75% down from the last few years. Last winter was tough on them, but habitat loss is our...

    Favorite catfish bait

I agree with the comments about fresh cut bait. Where i use to fish them a lot (Red River, Manitoba) fresh caught goldeye cut into 2-3 inch chunks was hard to beat. also did really well most days with suckers cut into 2-3 inch chunks. I'd freeze the suckers that were caught earlier in the year...

ammo for 7 MM Rem Mag (1/8 twist)

Thank you for the responses. Chevyman181, I'll be using factory ammo. Hoping to practice up to 500 yards, but will probably limit hunting shots to 400 yards. Does anyone have experience with the 168 grain Berger Hybrid Hunter?

ammo for 7 MM Rem Mag (1/8 twist)

Hello, I recently ordered a Seekins 7 mm mag. With the 1 in 8 barrel twist, does anyone have any recommendations for style/grain of bullet to try? It will be used for deer, antelope, and hopefully another elk or two at some point. Thank you.

    ND HB 1151

valid point about outdoor legislation in the past and future. I think what many people worry about is where the line is drawn.

    ND HB 1151

So do you think all game and fish management should be up to the legislature since they're elected? Or just the rules you disagree with?

    ND HB 1151

Forgot to add that this will only be the start....we're now on a slippery slope of game management. Let's re-visit this thread in two years at the next legislative session to see what new bills are introduced. Perhaps over the counter rifle buck tags? If that's what the people want, why not?

    ND HB 1151

As someone who has baited deer many times in the past and will continue to do so if legalized again in the unit I hunt, I did not support this bill. call me a hypocrite if you want I guess. I cannot get behind taking power away from the game and fish and letting the legislature make decisions...

ND Game and Fish coming under fire for CWD Management

oh boy....and it might not even stop at that. the chatter on some Facebook Groups makes it seem like lot's of people want to take all the power away from the game and fish to manage deer herds and turn it over to the legislature. i don't see how that could ever happen, but who know's.

ND Game and Fish coming under fire for CWD Management

about a half hour through watching the meeting on Youtube. not sure I'll make it much longer haha. Whatever his name is from UOA surely only wants to continue baiting for the sake of children, vets, and disabled hunters......I'm sure there's no other reason.....not. I'm not opposed to baiting...

ND Game and Fish coming under fire for CWD Management

i think we can all agree we don't need or want the state legisators in charge of the deer herd though. what a disaster that would be. all in all our game and fish does a good job managing the herd.

ND Game and Fish coming under fire for CWD Management

true. I guess the point I was trying to make is I don't think CWD is their only reason for wanting the baiting ban. I think it lines up nicely with them wanting a baiting ban for decades. I definitely might be reaching/over thinking it though.
