Badlands 2200 hunting backpack.
I purchased this backpack 2 years ago and have only used on one hunting trip. It is like new and has no visible wear and has never seen any blood. It has tons of useful features for a typical hunting day trip and for longer trips as well.
-Has numerous...
Good morning,
I am heading out to the beartooths this weekend for 3 days of backpacking and a bit of fishing if I have time. I am planning on starting at East rosebud lake and walking to cooke city on the "beaten path" trail. I have been looking at the maps and it appears I will have to return...
I am looking to get a holster for my ruger redhawk. I will solely be using it when I am elk hunting so I would like it to either work with my backpack or not be in the way of my pack. I was going to get a chest harness style, but I ran across the mystery ranch quickdraw holster. Does anybody...
My wife and I are considering relocating to Calgary. I have been there in the past and remember seeing elk everywhere near Banff. Does anybody know if Alberta has ample hunting opportunities for deer, elk, moose, etc.? Any other opinions about living in this area?
Thank you.
I just got back from a weeklong archery hunt in the Gravellies south of Ennis. Overall it was a good trip with some elk encounters, but no meat in the freezer this time. I did have one interesting encounter with a black bear though. Earlier in the week we spotted a bull with 4 cows on a steep...
I am doing an archery hunt at the end of september in 323 in SW MT. Last time I went there was a fair amount of bear activity, but we didn't have any encounters. If we end up getting an elk and carrying it out we plan to continue hunting for the other person's elk. Is it dangerous to be walking...
Good morning,
I have decided to do an elk hunt in Montana this archery season. I'm looking to buy a used pack. I've read a lot of the threads about backpacks on here and it seems the consensus is to get one of the high end packs. Unfortunately, I will have to put that off for a few years...
I was doing some research and it seems that everyone agrees the elknut playbook is well worth the money. I was going to order it this morning, but they have some different packages that I might order instead. They have different packages that include different calls. I plan on getting the...
I was looking at the MT FWP map of the crazy mountains trying to figure out where to apply for an elk B tag. The southern half looks like a checkerboard. From what I have read, it is not possible to access these lands unless you have permission from all of the surrounding landowners if you plan...
I was out hunting yesterday and got my longest tail so far. Does anybody know of a longest tail contest in SW North Dakota?I made a few calls and no luck so far.
I purchased a new pair of Danner pronghorns from an estate sale 2 years ago. They were never used. Over the last two seasons they have done okay for me. First, the shoe lace grommets created some uncomfortable pressure points on the left that didn't allow me to lace them up tightly. I can get...
I have been trying to figure out what type of tent I would like to get for next year's elk hunt. I think the kifaru would be a good option with a lot of flexibility. However, I don't think my wife is a big fan of me sleeping in the backcountry by myself. Option number 2 is to sleep near my truck...
This tipi seems like it is a great option for backcountry hunting. It seems like an even better option when you add in a stove. However, the price tag for the tipi and stove is near $1000.
Anybody have any cheaper alternatives that aren't junk, but you can still have the option of a stove?
I am looking for some advice. I drew a once in a lifetime cow elk tag in North Dakota. The tag is for E2. I am heading out this Thursday and Friday to do some bowhunting/scouting for elk. The only advice I have heard so far is to walk and glass A LOT. The North Dakota success rate for elk varies...
If you had to pick one spot to go after a cow elk where would it be? I am thinking about trying to get a MT tag again, but am considering ID, CO and WY also. Are any spots really easy to get a tag? Thanks.
I am looking at doing my second hunt this year for elk in MT. My father and I were not very successful last year with the elk around Ennis. We had some very warm weather and no snow, but overall we didn't know what we were doing. We got some good tips on the last day from some of the friendly...
Good morning,
I am heading to the bighorn National Forest on Thursday for a few days of camping and fishing. I wasn't able to find any good info online and the Forest Service said to stop in at the Sheridan location and they would show me some spots. We have a young kid (8 yoa) coming with us so...
Good morning,
After an unsuccessful bull elk hunt last year with my father, we are interested in trying to get some meat in the freezer this year. I talked to the MT FWP yesterday and they still have some left over cow tags for this season.
They are still available in 4-80, 411-80, 412-80...
This year, I plan on surprising my dad with a pronghorn hunt. I was thinking about either Montana or Wyoming, but I am not exactly sure. Does anybody have suggestions about where to hunt/apply that would fill these criteria:?
1. Good odds of drawing a pronghorn buck tag
2. Large number of horned...
