I just rechambered a 7/08 to 284 win. 23.5 in HCA bbl, tikka action. Getting 3170 fps with a 150 eldx and moderate recoil. I love it. cant wait to see your buddies! -

Looks great to me. The 7/08 with 160s is no different than the 6.5s with 140s. My old 7/08 ran a 162 eldm over a stiff charge of varget to 2750. Had a new one built for the 180 eldm and am getting 2650 over h4350. Or about the same velocity most are getting out of a 147 eldm in a creedmore, with...- Jon Boy

How far away?
I have. Probably a 2 or 3 year old cow. Took two pretty heavy trips but was on logging roads so not too bad and a lot lighter than a bull. I would gladly do it again. With our hunting group we will shoot one as far as we want as long as the shooter is happy with their harvest! I always hated it... -
Pork Fat in Bozeman?
I bought town and country in livingston out of there pork trimmings on sunday. The butcher was hoping to get some more but he says it gets hard to find this time of year as we start approaching the end of the season. He also had beef suet in bulk 40 lb boxes for sale.- Jon Boy

First time load for my 7mm08
Ive been using varget with 162 eld-ms in my long action 7/08. Getting 2730 fps out of a 22in pipe and .5 moa accuracy. Puts the thumping on critters too.- Jon Boy

Poor bc and all copper bullets make for an awful long range bullet. They are scary accurate no doubt and great for high speeds at maximum point blank range. When stretching it past 500 yards im wanting a high bc efficient projectile that will expand at lower velocities.- Jon Boy

Premium Tag: How many days would you spend hunting?
Most of my experience is with elk. I'm fortunate to have most all of hunting season off. I found 3 day trips are best with a day or 2 of rest/glassing in between. I hunt more effectively and stay charged through out a long season. Nearly all of my successful trips I kill on day one or two no... -

You will. And when it does you will be scratching your head thinking you burned a barrel out. Took me three days to get one of my rifles un-fouled.
