How would you rate the three units you've hunted in? We are a group of four novice elk hunters that will be doing a backpack archery hunt this fall. I'm trying to narrow down the units with "S" either-sex tags that have decent draw odds and preferably some wilderness area so we can stay away...
I'm trying to make sense out of the data for elk units in New Mexico and hope some of you can help me sort out a couple of questions.

The trip turned out really well. I managed to stick this bear on May 25th with the video camera running. He squared right at 7' and green scored 18 8/16" P&Y. I couldn't be happier with the way things worked out.
Here's my Kansas archery buck taken November 24th. Net green score 153 4/8" P&Y.
