    What about premium bullets?

Dan, I use the 140 grain Barnes X in .308 dia. in 2 rifles for whitetails as they are the most accurate I have found in both rifles. I also like Hornady in a general purpose bullet. And wouldn't hesitate to use then on whitetails.-----Chainsaw

    Shell holders

Red, I think you will be ok if you use the dies from the same company as the shellholder. My rockchucker works with all dies. But I do use the shellholder of the same make as the die.---------Chainsaw

    Best powder for .223?

Dan, As far as I know, Hogdgon used to import the BLC-2 from Austraila. It was made by Austrailian Defense Industries. My container that is 7 years old says Made In Austraila. The newer containers don't have that designation. The military equivalent that I have had success with is WC846...

    150gr Barnes X FP for the 30-30

Lilbiggun, I loaded some for a friend, for his 30-30 Winchester Trapper, and due to all the razzing he took upon arrival at deer camp,(the trapper along with his Savage model 11 in .308) he used the Trapper to take a 150 class B&C Buck in Alberta. This buck had a exit wound that was golf ball in...

Hey buddy can you spare a round? U.S. MILITARY OUT OF BULLETS--THANK YOU BILL CLINTON We knew that the Clinton's oppose citizens having weapons, did not know they didn't trust our military to have ammunition. This is from the Salt Lake City Tribune 3-14-01. Sadly, our enemies now know about the...

    Hornady Custom ammo, Bad brass!

I have used "surplus" replacement powders and have had good luck with them. Each 8 lb. container is a little different but so is the commercial powder that I have purchased. I use 748/BLC-2, AA2520, and H414 under the following surplus designations from these 2 sites...

    More tumbling questions?

I always add one piece of paper toweling torn in half to my tumbler, this paper towel accumulates most of the dust, and leaves both the media and brass somewhat cleaner. Just toss the towel out, and the dirt with it. WHEN FREEDOM IS OUTLAWED-ONLY OUTLAWS WILL REMAIN FREE-------CHAINSAW

    Question on .243 ballistic tips.

Rev, My friend, Welcome to hunttalk. Hope you find an answer to the question. I have reloaded .243 with H414 powder with excellent results. Also heard that 4350 works well. I am going to post a website that also has information, www.again.net/~steve/page8a.htm It is a general loading data...

Which caliber for cast bullets? Not just for cast bullet shooters..Survival question

It appears that the Blue Helmet guys use .223 and 9mm along with .308. All good choices. I would be more worried about the type of rifling in the barrel of my firearm and its compatability with cast bullets than the caliber.------Chainsaw

    reg. primers vs. mag. primers?

danr, I just read some thing by Craig Boddington, and he found Federals to be hotter than most in that article. I found in my reloading that CCI 250 and Remington 9 1/2 M almost interchangeable. Federal gave very different points of impact. I used to use only WLR primers until the "shortage"...

    reg. primers vs. mag. primers?

Josh, If your brother was using "ball type" powder, I wouldn't worry about it either. The only primers in magnum that I believe are hotter than most is the Federal 215, which gives very different results than, CCI 250, standard WLR, or Rem.9 1/2M. I haven't used WLR magnum primers and can't...

    Tumbling Brass

CA. Hunter, I use treated walnut, and put a piece of paper towel in tumbler that gathers all the grime on it while tumbling. This has increased the life of the media, and has left the brass much brighter. Maybe it would be worth a try. When at the bench I use a rag with dab of Hoppes to clean...
