Never heard of em. I've heard of the Wyoming one. Are they really that much of a force beyond a state level? I just don't see outfitting like some giant company trying to take over. Do you have some example stories? I don't see how giving up opportunity is a winning long game for DIY NR's...- CMF

I agree with your statement. I'm just pointing out that going to 90/10 will reduce NR odds. There are guys on this and other forums who are trying to sell 90/10 as a win for both sides, and that simply isn't true. An 85/15 split would be break-even for both sides, as that is how tags have been...- CMF

Yea, I didn't think there were too many hunts like that. Pronghorn is the only one I don't always put in for. I do know Mcgregor range ES barbary is one of them. That would add a hunt that didn't previously exist. I even emailed the state and bio's about that hunt, because there are so many...- CMF

So what do you think the other %25 of NR is going to do? And why? What hunt codes are not available now that are going to suddenly bring someone in from the sidelines? Agree, there isn't much of a reason that guys in the guided pool would not join the nr pool. They could still go guided if they drew. You think that guys paying a "few grand" for slightly better odds won't stick around for the cost to apply? Really? I think most people applying in NM with any...- CMF

You're right, and those are the same guys who think this is going to solve their problem. What is going to be their solution when this ~6% increase in tags doesn't result in them getting a gila elk tag every year?- CMF

You guys really need to do the math before you get excited about this as a NR. It definitely moves the needle in. In the wrong direction. This will absolutely hurt DIY NR odds. Of the 10% outfitter pool, 90% of those apps are non-residents. Meaning right now, about 15% of the tags go to NR...- CMF

Ultimate broadhead?
I like the idea of these. They are a small profile that should have good accuracy and great penetration, the main things I want. Just a plus that they're durable. The bleeders don't seem big enough to affect flight or hurt penetration. They are cheaper than an IronWill or similar 2-blade. I... -

I do think most would be toting them. I know several guys taking young kids that don't hunt any public or draw hunts, they just hunt private, and their 5 and 6-year-olds are wacking deer....- CMF

Can you get any actual data, like the ages of kids drawn for the hunt? I feel like your perception is probably based on a very small sample of people you've met. Do I think some people take advantage, yes. But I believe its the exception, not the rule. I've seen alot of friends with kids...- CMF

State and federal co-management of national Forest?
We've had state-managed wildlife management areas on the National Forest here in MS for a long time. Haven't seen anything change. They used to do food plots on them, but haven't seen that in a while.- CMF
